Things worth knowing before you hire anyone for a shower, us included.
Showers leak at the edges, not in the middle
The middle of a tiled wall is rarely the problem. Water gets past at the joints, the corners, and the curb you step over, because those are the places that move.
A shower curb takes weight every single day. Rigid grout in a joint that flexes will crack, and once there is a crack, every shower sends a little water behind the tile instead of down the drain.
You usually see it somewhere else entirely. A soft spot in the floor outside the shower, a stain on a ceiling below, a baseboard that never seems to dry. By then the water has been travelling for a while.
On this one we opened the curb, pulled the failed section, and got air on it. You cannot close a shower back up around wet substrate and expect it to hold.
Watertight is a different job from clean
A shower can look immaculate and still be leaking. Cleaning changes what the tile looks like; it does nothing about what is happening behind it.
That is the honest limit of a cleaning-only service, and it is worth knowing before you pay for one to solve a leak. If your grout is cracked at a corner, the cleanest grout in the world is still an open path for water.
Once the substrate is properly dry, the repair goes back in, the joints get the right material, and the whole thing gets sealed. Then it is watertight again, and it stays that way.
Nothing here needed a remodel. The tile the homeowner picked is the tile that is still there.
